© Summary: DenLors Tools examines the Milwaukee 2491-23 12 volt cordless combo tool kit in this tool review. We cover the reasons why this kit is so good when comes to automotive applications. Also see why some past owners of Makita, Dewalt and other cordless tool brands, are switching to Milwaukee and can’t be happier.

The Milwaukee Advantage

There’s a lot of competition when it comes to cordless power tools. Makita, Dewalt, Ryobi, Hitachi and the list goes on. The key factor to any of them is the quality of the batteries. A cordless tool without a good battery is as useless as a kick stand on a jet-ski! The  M12™ LITHIUM-ION battery is the heart of the Milwaukee cordless power tool. LITHIUM-ION batteries deliver longer life and run-time with fade-free power. The slim ergonomic design provides user great power without the bulk and weight of a Ni Cad battery. In this Milwaukee Cordless combo kit TWO Lithium Ion batteries are included that  can be used on any Milwaukee M12™ series tools.

Milwaukee Flashlight

The Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation has hit another home run with the M12™ 49-24-0145 flashlight. It provides hands-free use in a compact and lightweight design. Notice the small head that can be fit into tight areas. Also the locking ring for the lens is much thicker and stronger than the Makita design which tends to break in a short time. The Milwaukee brand has a 90-degree rotating head. The M12™ Flashlight allows light to be projected in any direction. It uses a Xenon incandescent bulb that maximizes brightness of the beam over a specific work area. An integrated magnet is built into the side of the light (where the Milwaukee logo is) which allows it to be placed on the underside of the hood or any other convenient metal object while working. One of the surprising benefits is the  Milwaukee’s backed five-year tool warranty.

Milwaukee Cordless Driver

You may be wondering at this point, why is there an impact and a screwdriver in this kit? I thought the same thing, until I realized that the screwdriver pictured above is perfect for NOT breaking small fasteners with excessive force. The lower torque just makes sense. The quick connect works well with numerous brands of 1/4″ screwdriver bit packages. The Milwaukee 2401-20 M12™ Screwdriver has the power to drive the majority of common small fasteners. The run time is usually all day thanks to the Lithium Ion battery. An excellent choice for working in tight places, it makes dash work a breeze!.

Milwaukee Impact

The Milwaukee 2451-22 M12™ 3/8″ Impact Wrench delivers the power needed to do most general work on cars. Great for transmission pans, larger fasteners found in dashes etc. All with the convenience of a cordless tool, which means there’s no air hose to get the inside of the car dirty! No cord to get trans fluid on either. With a powerful impact mechanism that delivers up to 1,000 in-lbs of torque and it’s only 2.3 lbs. This cordless tool also has an easy to use socket retainer on the 3/8″ anvil. The fuel meter displays remaining run-time. I love the built in L.E.D. which lights up bolts and nuts in dimly lit work areas.
