Questions Answered by Company 23 Founder – Subaru Tools

©  Summary: We’ve recently started selling Company 23’s line of specialty products focusing primarily on Subaru specific tools. Ryan Mattson, the founder of Company 23, was kind enough to be interviewed for this article.

 Tell us about your background?

My name is Ryan and I am the owner of Company23. Company23 has
backgrounds in programming and mechanical engineering but our most
applicable experience has come from being automotive enthusiasts. My
automotive interests started when I bought my first car, a 1987 Merkur
XR4Ti (a turbocharged German Ford). My custom tool adventures started
out of necessity while maintaining and modifying that car extensively.
The XR4Ti is still at the shop but our primary focus has shifted to

turbocharged Subarus because of their excellent performance capabilities
and AWD system.

How was Company 23 named?

Company23 originally started as a firm for automotive related website
programming and design. I wanted a name that was somewhat generic so as
to not limit myself and I thought it had a nice ring to it. It also
tied in well with the Ford 2.3l engine in the Merkur.

 Inspiration for creating the company?

I’ve always had a need for tools that are hard to find, especially
those needed in the middle of a project that you can’t just get from the
local parts store. I generally end up making my own, especially
considering the costs of buying the dealer specific tool. The trouble
with making your own tools is that it takes a fairly large amount of
time to build versus the time spent using it. My final products have
come out pretty nice and quite functional. Realizing that not everyone
has the machining and fabrication equipment I have available to me, nor
the time to build specialty tools, I decided to bring them to market.

Are all your products made in the USA?

All of Company23’s products are made in the USA.

Any plans to develop other specialty tools?

We have a few specialty products underway. There will be some new
additions on the website within the next couple weeks and there are a
number that are under development. All of the current additions are
centered on Subaru’s and Ford 2.3 since that’s where we began. We will
be looking into tools for other makes in the future.

Anything else on your mind for our readers today?

I would like to thank Denlors for giving me the opportunity for this
interview and to thank the customers that have purchased our tools. We
hope people keep checking back with us as we continue to produce new,
innovative, cost effective, and made in the USA tools with a lifetime
warranty. Thanks, Ryan
